For every question related to foreigners' legal entry and residence in Belgium for short periods or on a permanent basis, one must contact the Immigration Office.

Immigration Office

Each day, the Immigration Office works to handle the pressing demands of new migrants. The Immigration Office issues visas for short or longer stays. It is responsible for registering asylum applications in Belgium and also ensures the voluntary return or expulsion of illegal residents.

The quality of the hospitality, efficiency and compliance are the strengths of this administration.

Mission and Values

The Foreign Office is responsible for managing migration flows in cooperation with various partners. It applies the law of 15 December 1980 and the Royal Decree of 8 October 1981 for access to the territory, residence, establishment and the removal of aliens.

For each foreigner, the office will make its decision:

• with transparency, based on precise, clear rules;
• objectively, using an unbiased approach;
• correctly and appropriately,  in compliance with the law and motivated by facts;
• rapidly, in the shortest possible time;
• case by case, treating each application separately.
