52 migrants were found dead in the desert near Séguédine in east-central Niger.

At the beginning, there were 75 migrants travelling aboard three vehicles, but at a certain point their smugglers  abandoned them to avoid the repression of security forces.

According to security sources, several dozen bodies were buried by elements of the national guard or the municipal police station in Séguédine.

Other migrants are still missing.

According to medical sources, 23 migrants are still under observation at the Integrated Care Center (CSI) in Séguédine.

Two weeks ago, 92 migrants, who had also been abandoned by their smugglers, were picked up by patrols of the Nigerian armed forces in Ténéré, not far from the Achegour cliff, 180 kilometers west of Dirkou.
